University unveils ambitious plans for state-of-the-art digital campus

The University of the Built Environment has announced a major investment to deliver a state-of-the-art digital campus for its students.
The ambitious five-year project will create a richer and more connected online learning experience, designed around how students want to study today and the skills they will need for their future careers.
The investment builds on the University’s long history of pioneering flexible and online education, while responding to students’ changing needs, circumstances and expectations, and the skills employers increasingly demand.
Professor Nick Mount, the University’s Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Digital Campus, said: “From its founding in 1919, the University of the Built Environment has always been a trailblazer in delivering truly accessible higher education. A century on, our online delivery model provides a unique opportunity to push the boundaries once again.”
Maximising student experience and success
Students will play a central role in shaping the new digital campus, which will include virtual classrooms and labs, an enhanced e-library, AI-enabled assessment platforms, social interaction tools, and new ways to connect learning with careers in the built environment.
Rather than simply recreating a physical university online, the project will harness what digital education and communication tools can uniquely offer, giving students opportunities to learn, interact, collaborate, and practise skills wherever they are based.
Nick said: “Through our five-year digital campus investment, we are on an exciting journey of partnership with the best-in-sector educational technologies and learning platforms so that we can rethink how our students learn and deliver digital environments that maximise student experience and success.”
