It’s been a landmark year for planning reform in England. From the Planning and Infrastructure Act to the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Act, which has brought back strategic planning and implemented the national scheme of delegation, alongside proposed changes to the NPPF and updates to local plans.

About Charlotte:
Charlotte Morphet is Programme Leader and Senior Lecturer in Urban Planning at the University of the Built Environment. She has over 15 years’ experience spanning the public, private, higher education, and third sectors, with a strong focus on strategy, policy, and research. Before moving into academia, Charlotte worked in planning practice in local government and planning consultancy. She taught planning at undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is currently undertaking a PhD at Leeds Beckett University, exploring women, gender, leadership, and organisational culture in planning.
Charlotte is passionate about EDI in the built environment and is co-founder and national co-chair of Women in Planning. She is currently the UK representative for the RTPI, on the Commonwealth Women in Planning Network, and sits on the International Society City and Regional Planners Women Leadership group. She has previously held trustee roles with the Royal Town Planning Institute, and the Planning Officers Society.
