Here at University of the Built Environment we champion Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in our workforce. We began our EDI journey in Autumn 2021 by forming an EDI Staff Working Group, which meets regularly to plan and implement changes and developments that will bring us closer to our goal of having a more diverse and inclusive workforce. We do not have a “tick-box mentality” but instead are committed to embedding real and lasting change within our institution. As an online education provider for the Built Environment we want our staff to be representative of the diverse and global student body that we serve. Please see our Equality Diversity and Inclusion Policy for details on how this relates to our recruitment and selection process.
We also wish to be transparent about where our job roles are located and the conditions around right to work; full details can be found within our Overseas Working – Place of Work Policy. University of the Built Environment job roles must be carried out in the country in which they are based, which is currently the United Kingdom or Hong Kong.
We undertake thorough pre-employment screening as part of its recruitment process. Given we have contracts with Government offices, we make sure our checks comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Checks will include identity, right to work, basic disclosure criminal record check, and three years of employment history.
We recommend you read our Recruitment Policy prior to applying for a role with the University. This document provides detail on our approach to recruitment and explains our full recruitment procedure.
We operate an Employee Referral Bonus Scheme which enables existing employees to receive an introduction bonus where they introduce a friend, family member, or other personal contact as a job applicant and the referred person is then subsequently recruited and employed as a result of that introduction. If you are applying for a role with University of the Built Environment and have been introduced by an existing employee, please ensure that you read carefully, and follow the rules of the scheme in order for the bonus to apply.
We request that recruitment agencies do not submit CVs for job vacancies, unless specifically requested to do so by the HR team. We will only accept agency CVs where terms and conditions of contract have been previously negotiated and agreed with the HR team.
University of the Built Environment will advertise all job opportunities on this website and does not retain speculative CVs on file.
As part of the recruitment and selection process we collect and process personal data relating to enquirers and job applicants. We are committed to being transparent about how we collect and use personal data; please see our Privacy Notice for job applicants for details.
