Jackie’s teaching is grounded in professional practice and industry standards. She focuses on building services systems design, environmental performance, fire safety, regulation and professional practice. Her approach emphasises real-world application, using authentic scenarios, annotated drawings, coordinated services layouts and portfolio-based assessment. She is particularly interested in supporting apprentices and early-career engineers to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for End-Point Assessment and professional registration.

Jackie’s interests focus on applied, practice-led enquiry rather than traditional academic research. These include professional competence development, assessment alignment with industry standards, and the integration of workplace evidence into higher education. She is particularly interested in how apprenticeship programmes can better support professional formation and progression within building services engineering.

Jackie has extensive experience working with consultants, contractors and client organisations across the built environment in the UK, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Her industry interests include systems integration, building safety and compliance, sustainability and decarbonisation, and the application of digital tools to support coordinated building services design and delivery. She maintains close links with professional bodies to ensure teaching and curriculum design remain aligned with current practice.
