Biography
Dr Jackie Portman is a Chartered Engineer and experienced building services engineering practitioner with extensive industry experience across the built environment. Her professional background spans mechanical, electrical, public health and fire engineering systems, systems integration, regulatory compliance and professional practice.
Jackie is actively engaged with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) as a trained End-Point Assessor (EPA) and assessor observer. This role provides her with direct insight into professional assessment standards and enables her to align teaching, learning and assessment with current industry and EPA requirements.
She is a key contributor to the development of the Level 4 Building Services Engineering Senior Technician Apprenticeship, supporting curriculum design that integrates workplace practice, professional competence and assessment readiness. Jackie brings a strong practice-led perspective to her teaching, with a particular focus on preparing learners for professional progression within the building services sector.
