Higher and degree apprenticeships offer a valuable path to gaining a qualification while simultaneously building valuable experience and skills in the workplace.
Our apprenticeships are designed as a collaborative partnership between you, your employer, and us your university. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours not only to excel in your End Point Assessment, the final milestone of your apprenticeship, but to continue with a fulfilling career journey within the built environment.
To begin the process of becoming an apprentice, you must be employed in a relevant role and have your employer’s full support.
Eligibility
To begin an apprenticeship programme with the University, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be employed full-time in a relevant role
- Spend at least 50% of your time working and living in England
- Not be enrolled in full-time education

Our apprenticeship programmes are constantly evolving to meet the real-world demands of the industry. We’re proud to be recognised by apprentices and employers for the high-quality support we provide.
Employers are required to reserve 20% of the apprentice’s working hours as off-the-job training, allowing the apprentice time to study for the academic side of their apprenticeship.
All study during an apprentice’s time at the University will be fully online. Apprentices will have access to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), a specialised platform hosting all the study content. Here, apprentices will be able to engage with academics, interact with fellow students, and take part in forums, quizzes, access our e-library and attend lectures, seminars and drop-in sessions.

Support at the University
Apprentices and employers are supported by various dedicated teams; they help with anything from academic queries to pastoral care.
Our academic staff are experts in their field and offer vital support and guidance. Support Tutors aid apprentices in a variety of ways, from explaining how to use our online resources to helping manage their workload.
Apprenticeship Outcomes Officers are the main point of contact whilst on the programme. Their pastoral role provides both apprentice and line managers with regular progress reviews to support with academic and personal development goals.
University of the Built Environment has a dedicated Disability and Welfare team who provide apprentices with the support and tools they need to succeed. Support is available to apprentices with a range of disabilities, health conditions, and learning difficulties.
